So yes…I’m a little late to the party, but to be fair, I didn’t plan to participate in the Pinterest Challenge with YHL, Centsational Girl, Bower Power, and Ten June until next week!
I spent all day trying to come up with an idea and – finally – (p)inspiration struck!
I don’t think mine turned out quite as cute, but I hope my herbs grow! To be honest, I didn’t really test how much sunlight the jars will get…but they’re in the kitchen by the window so there’s got to be a little bit of light there. Right?
So first I gathered my supplies…
Yeah, I had to spring for the fancy little herb kit for $7 because (surprise) it’s too late in the Missouri growing season to find herbs abound. Here’s hoping these Miracle Gro seed things work. At least the wood was free scrap we had left over from another project!
So first I had Scott drill some holes in the clamps (couldn’t leave him out, right?) The slots were slightly too narrow for the little screws I got.
Then the rest of the project went super fast. I planted the seeds in the mason jars and tightened the clamps. Then up in went into the studs!
Tada! You don’t have to shift them to an angle – I just did that for the Pinterest comparison.
So there you go – a two hour project from store to wall for less than $20 ($9 for the clamps, $3 for the mason jars, $.36 for the screws and $7 for the herbs). Now hopefully it’ll yield some nice basil, cilantro, and dill for our dinners.

This looks great! It will smell great too once those gorgeous herbs start to grow
Yum! Looks good! What a pretty, and functional project.
Better late than never, Bri.
